The King's Men

Neil Josten is out of time. He knew when he came to PSU he wouldn't survive the year, but with his death right around the corner he's got more reasons than ever to live.

Befriending the Foxes was inadvisable. Kissing one is unthinkable. Neil should know better than to get involved with anyone this close to the end, but Andrew's never been the easiest person to walk away from. If they both say it doesn't mean anything, maybe Neil won't regret losing it, but the one person Neil can't lie to is himself.

He's got promises to keep and a team to get to championships if he can just outrun Riko a little longer, but Riko's not the only monster in Neil's life. The truth might get them all killed—or be Neil's one shot at getting out of this alive.

The King's Men is currently available at Smashwords and Amazon.

More later, I'm off to panic quietly somewhere. ♥

I read your whole book in one sitting! I am hoping you might decide to write a fourth book! I would love to see how everything and everyone changed a year or two and where they are in the future!

I wanted to pace myself, but instead I stayed up and read all night. I regret nothing...
What a wonderful finale. For me the book delivered on all accounts and even exceeded my expectations by a mile. Once it's available on Amazon I'll go and buy it again. I bought a book for 5$ just last week that thoroughly disappointed me and I have to find a way to pay at least that much for The King's Men.
I'm so glad I discovered this series. I hope you never stop writing. Ever. Thank you! I'm babbling, I'll go away now and read it again...

I read until I finished it.
I am in awe...
TKM was brilliant, entire series is... the amount of love I have for entire Foxes team and their coach can't be measured. Thank you for giving us a chance to meet them. :D
Don't ever stop writing, Nora, ever.

Finished. All nighter. Speechless. So well written and so much more than I hoped for. Thanks nora :)

This whole series was great and this book was so totally awesome! Read it all in one day. Thanks so much for writing this series.

Without hyperbole, this is the best trilogy I have ever read. I...kinda stayed up all night reading "The King's Men"... Now I want to read it again (maybe at a slower, less frantic pace). And now I'm still obsessing about the books (which Z keeps laughing at me for, the jerk). I really hope to see more of the Exy world in the future! I love all of the characters and just...everything.

This is the best December present ever <3 I stayed up late to read it even though I had work the next day, and it was completely worth it. Much love for this series, and I'm off to reread the whole thing again! Thank you so much!

Bought it last night and read it straight through - just finished. I LOVED IT!! I can't imagine a better finish to this trio of stories, and I applaud you for you supreme efforts to make us happy - you hit it out of the park, girl!

You never said... Was the good doctor Proust taken care of in the cleanup? Also, please reconsider. I would really really want to see what happens down the line for all of them...

I'm super glad you share this book with us. It was absolutely amazing and couldn't ask for a better ending. I hope to read more of your stories in the near future perhaps even more Fox hole Court stories? Neil and Andrew! My dream come true! XD

I am so glad to stick around and see this awesome story come to an end. Super thankful that you didn't give up either!

Please don't stop writing, I think you have a great gift in your story telling. Love your style!!

Best wishes!

Fantastic! From the first page to the last. *__*

I love every single moment I spent with the Foxes, but I hate that it's over.
If you have any unreleased side stories/deleted scenes/whatever - maybe Neil related scenes that were too spoilery to release before - I'd give anything to read those.
Maybe you could compile them into a companion book.

Scenes I'd be particularly interested in:
- What happened to Dr. Proust? Did Uncle Stuart take care of him? Or the Moriyamas? I love Uncle Stuart by the way. He saved Neil, so of course I do...
- The upperclassmen figuring out that there's something going on between Neil and Andrew.
- The riot after Neil was taken by Lola.
- And most of all: The conversation between Aaron and Andrew, when Aaron told him to give Neil up. :D

Thank you so much for writing this. And whatever you do, please don't ever stop!

I can't believe it.
It was so amazing.
It was perfect, in fact. (spoilers ahead)
More often than not I'm disappointed with the last book of a series, because sometimes the story feels rushed, the characters evolve a bit incoherently, etc. But for The King's Men, the pace was exciting and promising without being too quick or too slow. The characters were awesome. I could say it one hundred times and more. Because I loved them so much, with all their flaws and imperfections. And they didn't get out of character, their evolution and changes made sense. I mean, you managed the relationship between Andrew and Neil so perfectly. I couldn't imagine how they would end up together, even though I hoped they would, and you succeed to write it flawlessly! <3

The universe you created in this series, the sport and its history, the teams, the antagonists, the past of each character, etc. It was fantastic.

The part when Neil was taken was painful. It was so stressful, there was no hope. The appearance of his uncle at this moment was brilliant. And I loved how Andrew wouldn't let Neil get out of his sight after! :D

Kevin's comment to Wymack before the last game <3

I can't list all my favorite moments of this series, there's too much of them. I loved every book, so much that I read them many times while waiting for the third. I'm glad you took your time to write it the way you wanted, because the result is worth it. The only disappointment is that it's over! I second Maryvel's comment about the extra scenes! :P

Really, thank you so much for sharing this story with us. Your writing deserves so much more recognition.

Isaah

(p.s.: I hope what I said made sense, English isn't my native language)

I agreed with the previous statements. It was a great way to end the series!
However, I would like to know what happened to Proust.
Who takes over as coach for the Ravens?
How do the Foxes take the news that Riko is dead?
Do Neil, Kevin and Jean make it court?
How do the Foxes handle the new players next year?
How does Neil fair as co-captain?
What was the deal Aaron struck with Andrew regarding Neil?
How do Andrew and Neil fare in the future?

Would you consider writing an epilog? Or maybe a fourth book? I love love love your writing style and TKM was worth the wait!

I just finished writing my review on Amazon but I had to stop by and leave a little love on your blog. AMAZING Nora seriously. I have no idea how you do it. This is hands down the best book series I've ever read. And by read I mean I've read the first 2 books ten times each and the second twice already. I'm in total agreement with everyone else that once you've recovered from the stress of writing this series you HAVE to write more. You're way too talented not to. I would love for it to be a continuation of Andrew and Neil's story but anything you write will be an automatic buy for me. So much love right now.

I spent two long nights, one breakfast and a lunch break reading. After the first evening I had to look at the last pages for a happy end or I would not have got any sleep that night. I'm reading books in English for some time now and it is good, that I didn't find these books in the early days, when I was a very slow reader and had to translate 20 words each page. This is a very special series and I don't know where such ideas come from. But I am glad you had those ideas. While this is a great ending I would really like to read a book four to see how the relationship between Andrew and Neil will grow and how Neils choice of the new teammates will work and and and...I think there would be a lot to tell ...please do it! (and while my English reading is good, my writing is bad, sorry..)

You know what would be amazing? If we could read the story from Andrews point of view! :)

Alexandra Wagner said...

That's a great idea!!!

Ugh! I have a horrible book hangover... I can't stop thinking about Neil and Andrew and I've read the book in parts about 15 times by now I think.
It makes me super sad when I think that I'll never read about them ever again. I wonder if the foxes are out of your system now, Nora. U_U

So yes, any sidestories or Andrew's point of view would be so amazing. And I'd give my right arm for that conversation between Andrew and Aaron about Neil being a violation of their agreement. :P

BTW I think the little Boss took care of Dr. Proust. That's why Uncle Stuart mentioned the Moriyamas taking out Doctors. After Neil ratted him out, he was probably taken out. I guess Neil saved the day for everyone. ^^

Absolutely loved the book! I reread it slowly right after because I didn't want to leave it. I really hope the series will be made in paperback one day. These are books I would want to flip through and see in my bookcase :D thank you for this wonderful series!

The way this book ends makes you think there's another book coming. Was so good wanted to know what happens to all my favorite characters in this series. Would love to see more about them.

Please reconsider writing another book for this series. Couldn't stop reading until I read all 3 books. Read Kings Men 4 times now fell in love with them all over again. Format very good.
