I get more and more strange I'm going insane

+ What's on: Dysfunctional Family, by Cinema Bizarre

This is a post that's not really a post but what can you do? I said earlier this week I'd try to make an update today just to touch base. Was going to post a piece of Andrew & Renee's story, but am having minor technical difficulties with the external hard drive. I'll try again tomorrow, so if you're interested, check back here tomorrow afternoon! Until then, consider this to be the I'm-sorry-no-new-news placeholder. ♥

I am so anxious for the book, I am willing to fly over from Greece and read to the beta we're all waiting for every night, you know, as a good night book... Seriously though, a very long wait between beta reader two and three... can't wait!!!

I don't know about your other readers, but I for one, would rather read book where the writer cares enough to put out the best book they can.
Nowadays, especially with e-books, the editing is shoddy at best. Some can't even remember to use the correct name of a character from one book to another in a series. Or it seems the writer has a deadline that causes less than good results. Such as, the book will grab you from the first page. Get its hooks in you so that you can't put it down. Then the last couple chapters and the endings are crud. Like they are rushed to finish.
So please, you and your betas take your time and give me story I've been waiting on. I've got a real strong feeling it's going to be worth it!
Don't sweat that your got a bit busy, and that your time wasn't your own to do as you pleased with for a while. (such as write!)
Life is messy sometimes, and if yours isn't, well....could be your not doing it right!!!

Andrew and Renee is an interesting mixture. I just feel though that Renee is not someone to be taken lightly, even if she seems to be a goody good person. She might just shock everyone hahaha.

Andrew on the other hand, tends to hide behind this false pretence that he's cold, unreachable & uncaring but when you think about it, he appears rough because that's his way of fending for himself.

Anyway, they'd be an interesting read. But can you hopefully throw in Neil as a side bonus? Would love to see them interact like as 3 broken people with different personas & in terms of how they project themselves to people. ( a stand alone story maybe? Hehe)

I never picture Renee as a broken person - I do picture her with Jean, though :)

I wish there was I like button. I love the idea of Renee with Jean. New head cannon. Thank you!

La sigh...I love Renee and Jean...I love Andrew and Neil...A sick part of me even loves Riko and Kevin...la wistful sigh...

Olga Katri said...

Yes, yes, best book possible and all, you really have no news???? I am depressed... Renee and Jean YES!! But Riko and Kevin? no, No, NO!! Please squash him (Riko)...

SarSar said...

Gah! Let me clear that up! I'm just interested in their HISTORY, although I am convinced that Riko feels for Kevin as much as his narcissistic, sociopathic personality can allow. And that's not a GOOD thing. Just to be clear. Not supporting psychopathy over here. Unless it's Andrew's psychopathy. Totally different story. Urgh. I look so bad right now.

Wren Safe said...

What?! I don't think you look bad! Everyone is entitled to their own fandoms. I could totally envision some Riko/Kevin or more of Riko being into Kevin and just misinterpreting those feelings into a need for complete control. I mean let's be honest the Raven's do some pretty freaky things with their "in sets of two" system. I imagine that crossing lines.

What do you guys think the Neil/Andrew relationship is going to be like? I really can't imagine a sober Andrew and not think of... Aaron. And that can't be right, right? I just want to know what everyone's speculating for his change in personality?

JamieCowanReed said...

Neil and Andrew, after he is sober......I can only imagine that Andrew will be just as he was before drugs. His violent side will still be there, he will control it unless the consequences are worth the actions. Like saving someone he cares for. As far as he and Neil, I think they they will only get closer. After all, who has ever stood up for Andrew like did Neil did, just to keep him safe. I also think that Neil is attracted to the violence of Andrew, not that he approves, but it is what he is used to. After all they have both given more to each other in their game of secrets, than they have ever given anyone else. As far Aarons personality, he is more of an introverted person, and Andrew is more of an extroverted person. Even if they had a "normal" upbring, Andrew would still be the more out going of the two, and Aaron would the quieter one. Andrew is a leader, Aaron is a follower. I think they would have been inseparable raised together.

Wren Safe - very interesting question. Andrew is by far the most interesting character to me because nothing that has molded his personality is obvious; you have to really invade his space to reveal the events that have shaped him. He does not give that information up freely (very mysterious). I think that because he has had such personal trauma he understands that you really have to know someone's most closely held secrets to anticipate what dangers they face and know how to protect them. (I think that is the reason for the Friday night trips - to probe as deep as he can get.) Meds can alter outward behavior (Prozac to even out emotions or alcohol to release inhibitions), but they do not fundamentally alter your underlying thoughts or motives. I think that off the meds Andrew will still be fundamentally who he is - a protector. This group is his family, where he feels safe. And I think that on or off the meds he would sacrifice his own life if needed to protect them. I can't wait to see if while still facing threats he is able to let the walls down and freely and completely give his heart to another! Or does he feel he has to wait for the threat to be removed? Just my 2-cent analysis, but I am SOOO anxious to see how MaryNoel MASTERFULLY weaves these characters together into the truly AMAZING picture she has created so far... :-)

I am not convinced that Andrew EVER feels safe...

JesseChase said...

SarSar - I think that is right. "Safest" is probably a better word. But ALWAYS on guard...

Jamie - That's a good point about Aaron and Andrew's variation. I guess I had attributed the "extroverted" part of Andrew as the crazy side since he usually buts-in with such strange threatening things as if he's always in near hysterics. However when you look at it as leader and follower then I can totally see what you're saying. I might have attributed too much of Andrew's personality to the drugs. I can't wait to see what his dialogue is like now.

Jesse – That’s a whole different plot point than I had even thought of. I guess the idea of Andrew feeling threatened had never even occurred to me since ya know… he’s Andrew who so coolly gives so minimal shits until stuff starts “getting interesting”. I suppose that that will be different now since he’ll have his full capacity of expression. As far as whether he needs the threats to be eliminated before anything happens with Neil… that’s a pretty neat perspective to take. I had previously been too caught up in the same circle that Jamie hinted at with the concept that Andrew is very aggressive, and Neil has a really quick temper. I see the moments when those aspects of their character align as being the most passionate and honest between them. But on the other hand... Neil literally watched Andrew get raped (which eliminates an aggressive move) and Neil is pretty oblivious for anything slow (poor vixen that hit on him all night).

I mean… do you guys think Neil is into Andrew at the end of book 2? Like even on a subconscious level? I got the whole idea that he accepts Andrew as his friend/family and he feels like Andrew is owed a gesture of gratitude and sacrifice – but did you guys feel any alternative motives mixed in? Or is it waaaaay to early for that.

Wren Safe, I think that the scene at the Exites store between the two of them showed the beginning of something between them... There was also something showing (in my humble opinion) at the conversation between Neil and Renee, when he found out there's nothing between Andrew and Renee... I don't know how it will play out after Andrew's ordeal, but I can't wait to find out!!

JamieCowanReed said...

Wren- I think your right about Neil being oblivious....after all, Neil didn't know what Coach was talking about in the kitchen when Coach asked "When did that happen?" Neil reply was "What?" After putting Andrews hands on Neils scars.

I like to know if Andrew ever gets a veiw of those scars.... just to appease his curiousity, cause, well, its interesting right? Especially since he should have a lot more from Rico, to go with it.

Also can't wait see everyones reaction to the real Neil especially Andrews. How he looks without the deguises.

How about when Aaron finds out Andrew is gay?!

What about Jean? Having to watch Rico trying unsuccessfully to break Neil.... Do you think it will give Jean the push to break free himself? Especially with whatever that was with him and Renee! Talk about getting thrown for a loop!!

I don't know if Andrew and Neil, know what they feel for one another, but "I think" Andrew will have to save him from from Rico's family and Neil's own father to keep him, when he does figure it out!

Will Neil father get out of prison and make an appearance or will he remain the Boogie Man in closet?
